Mount Olive hires Reynolds to be schools head replacing Lamonte
MOUNT OLIVE (11/11/08) -
The nearly 100 concerned school supporters who came to last night’s
school board meeting “loaded for bear” over what appeared to be a
pre-determined decision by the board to appoint Dr. Larrie Reynolds
the new schools superintendent were pretty much turned back by a
detailed presentation of the search process by the board
President, Mark Werner.

police and road department take surprise snow storm in stride
MOUNT OLIVE (10/29/08) –
It was “all hands on deck” when yesterday’s “October Surprise” snow
storm struck, piling up to five inches of snow in some areas of the
township.

(10/28/08) - What appeared to be a well planned effort to
recruit a new schools superintendent to replace retiring Dr. Rosalie
Lamonte ran into a brick wall last night. The brick wall being some
short fused Mount Olive women.

Tom Wyka poll shows he has a real shot Frelinghuysen
PARSIPPANY (10/21/08) –
The Wyka campaign team
is on “fire.” In this last week of a “real hard work” campaign a new poll shows
that Wyka really has a shot at upsetting seven term Republican Congressman

McHose and Karrow criticize
Corzine Assistance Package
SUSSEX (10/25/08) -
Assembly Budget Committee members Alison Littell McHose and Marcia
Karrow charged today that the proposed economic assistance
legislation that moved through that committee this week falls far
short of the comprehensive approach needed to help the vast majority
of New Jersey residents struggling to make ends meet.

County needs poll workers Pay for the day is
$200
MORRISTOWN (10/22/08) –
The Morris County Board of Elections is in need of poll workers for
General Election Day, November 4. There are openings in all 39
municipalities.
Interested parties must be a registered
voter and be able to read and write English. They must also complete
a training class. Pay for the day is $200. Interested parties may

High School
choir to participate In concert honoring Tim Janis
MOUNT OLIVE (10/23/08) –
The Mount Olive High School Choir has been invited by NJN Public
Television to join with 12 other school districts to participate in
a prestigious documentary program honoring the world famous New
Jersey composer, Tim Janis, in a “Celebrate America” program to be
aired next March. The 47 member student choir will perform their
rendition of the Irish favorite, “Danny Boy.”

Frelinghuysen-Wyka debate Sunday morning in Parsippany
PARSIPPANY (10/22/08) –
Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen who is seeking re-election to a sixth term
and his Democratic opponent Tom Wyka, will participate in their
third and final debate Sunday at 10 a.m.in the Men’s Social Club at
the Temple Beth Am, 879 Beverwyck Road. A radio debate is planned
later in the month.
Oroho calling for “bottoms up” review of state
budgeting process

State Sen. Steve Oroho (R-Sussex, Morris, Hunterdon), a
member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, today
called for a bottom-up review of all state spending that challenges
long-held assumptions regarding the state’s budgeting process.

Township-Mount Olive border had been in the works since the
Washington Planning Board signed off on the preliminary plan for it
five years ago.

Olive flu shots Saturday at Senior Center
MOUNT OLIVE (10/21/08) –
Flu shots will be available for residents on Saturday from 9 a.m.
until Noon at the Senior Citizens Center (behind the municipal
building on Flanders-Drakestown Road). No charge for Seniors, 65
and older with their Medicare card. There is a $15 fee for
residents between the ages of 18 and 64. For further information

Musconetcong River
receives “wild and scenic” designation

It’s been a long time coming, but due to the efforts of
Representatives Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-11th Dist) and Scott Garrett
(R-5th Dist) the Musconetcong River has been federally designated as
a “wild and scenic” river.

Center

Police made three drug arrests yesterday and the day before
in the township, one charged as an apparent drug dealer.

demanding audits
of foreclosure tax bill
TRENTON (10/09/08) -
Assemblywoman Alison Littell McHose today urged the Democratic
majority in the State Assembly to reconsider and modify their plan
to tax the state banking system by an estimated $44 million and then
give $5 million a year from the proceeds to politically connected
organizations.
