Somehow Assemblywoman Alison Litell McHose has an ear
inside the Obama Administration and before it’s even
proposed she wants her constituents to know if he does
propose “sin” taxes, she’s against them.

New
library board scores home run with Council
MOUNT OLIVE (1/27/09) – What a
difference a couple of years make. It was just a over two
years ago when newly elected Mayor David Scapicchio ended three
years of frustration the Township Council had been experiencing with
the Library Board at the time…one on which the former antagonist
mayor sat and was strongly influenced by him. Full Story
Budd Lake Couple paying $102,000 to keep Budd Lake admission free
MOUNT OLIVE (1/26/09) – Nobody
really wanted to do it anyway….charging for admission to Budd Lake
this summer….Now, through the munificence of an elderly couple who
have lived here for more than 30 years the town won’t have to. The
couple are donating $34,000 each year for the next three years, for
a total of $102,000, so there won’t be any charge for residents
during that time.

Helmets to Hardhats.
The Morris County Cares program, in
conjunction with the Helmets to Hardhats project of the NJ Building
Trades Council, held a symposium in Morristown yesterday to explain
the program that provides good paying jobs for returning veterans.

Chiusano notes Corzine Administration Now
“feeling a new sense of urgency”
NEWTON (1/24/09) –
After the Corzine administration dismissed Republican
requests for months that both parties work together, the governor
has now decided to act to avert massive job losses, home
foreclosures and revenue shortfalls in the state, by embracing what
he calls “The Fierce Urgency of Now.”

Council mulling mayor’s“austere” 2009-2110 budget
MOUNT OLIVE (1/23/09)
–
Mayor David Scapicchio put the best face he could on
this year’s budget which he described as “austere.” Taxes will be
going up….but not by much….and services….none really critical….will
be going down. The good news is Mount Olive is a lot better off
than most other towns in Morris and neighboring counties.

Library Board names new director Scott L. Davan to replace Rita
Hilbert
MOUNT OLIVE (1/14/09) – The Mount
Olive Library Board today announced the appointment of Scott L.
Davan to be the new library director replacing long time and
sometimes controversial director Rita Hilbert. His appointment is
effective tomorrow.

Mayor
Scapicchio upbeat on the state of the township
MOUNT OLIVE (1/7/09) – Mayor
David Scapicchio gave an unusually upbeat report on the state of the
township at last night’s re-organization meeting in the township
municipal building considering the current economic climate
nationally. He also congratulated the new Council President Russ
Tepper who was elected to succeed Councilman Ray Perkins.
